Trip to Isla Reta, Samal - 02/2014

When Laura turned one year old, we wanted to celebrate it in a quiet and beautiful place. I wanted to make the most out of my 10-day leave from work so I took this opportunity to also relax and unwind. Our initial plan was to spend a night in one of the private resorts in Samal, but that did not materialize due to financial concerns. And so Isla Reta came to the picture - a resort located in Sta. Cruz, Talicud, Samal.

I texted and called the number I found online and making a reservation was a breeze. We got 2 kubos that can accommodate 6 persons each for Php 900.00/night, inclusive of the entrance fee. They also have an air-conditioned room good for 2 persons for Php 1,400.00/night. To preserve and protect the place, they did not allow visitors to cook or have bonfire. Instead, they can cook the food for you and charge a minimal amount. If you have the budget, this would save you time.

We arrived in Sta. Ana Wharf at around 9:30am. The first trip to Talicud was at 10am. We wanted to be early to secure our seats in the motorized banca. The travel time was almost 1 hour and 45 minutes. The fare to Talicud was Php 60.00/head, and you can get off at the common drop-off point and ride a tricycle or motorcycle to the resort. If you're in a group, you can request the banca operator to drop you off at Isla Reta for Php 80.00/head. If you brought children and food with you, this would save you the hassle.

The other side of the resort

When we arrived in Isla Reta, we were greeted by the picture-perfect beach - the crystal blue water, the white sand, the talisay trees that give shade during a sunny day, the peaceful and quiet beach. It was perfect! The cleanliness of the resort was also very noticeable. There was always someone picking up the fallen leaves of the trees to make sure they won't go with the water. Someone was always seen sweeping and picking up trash. The staff was also courteous and was always with a smile.

After lunch, we enjoyed the cool breeze of air along the seashore and the beach in the afternoon. We also explored the other more quiet side of the resort and found the same great place! We all had a great time!
